DASG Report: Fiza reported Michele LeBleu-Burns and Laureen Balducci presented general overview of the policies and procedures for reporting and getting support with issues related to Title IX and Harassment cases. DASG voted to continue meeting virtually for the next month. There took place the second reading of DASG revised by-laws.
Hiring Prioritization Workbook: Heidi reviewed the changes made to the Hiring Prioritization Workbook made as result of input received at October 26th meeting. The qualitative questions are intended as a general guide to be referred to when considering position prioritization whether Faculty, Classified, or Management positions including new/growth positions. Elvin moved to accept the workbook as our guide for hiring prioritization for 2021-22 academic year. Vins seconded. 20 approved, 0 against, 0 abstentions.
Ranked-choice voting was discussed. Decision on voting method will be tabled until next week.
Actual positions being requested from Divisions: The actual list of positions being requested by Divisions with retirements/resignations was presented. Lisa M questioned the positions submitted by PSME. The PSME Division positions could change in the next 24-48 hours based on ongoing Division discussion. Otherwise, the list is final. $2.63 million dollars will be available to Foothill-De Anza District for faculty positions (both instructional and non-instructional positions). 60% or $1.58 million is De Anza College’s portion. This amount will be campus-wide meaning covering instructional, student services, and administrative needs.
Process for adding positions needed to sustain/grow areas is needed. The College has a campus-wide commitment to DEI work. The two newest divisions (Academic Services & Student Resources, Equity & Engagement) need positions to accomplish their work. ASLR has need in several areas. Dean of Equity & Engagement Alicia Cortez stated faculty position to serve LGBTQ+ was a priority. Chesa underscored this need. Fiza speaking for DASG stated that with the loss of income due to pandemic, DASG was no longer able to support the E & E programs that DASG supported in prior years.
Christina asked that IPBT members have conversations this week with their constituencies in preparation for a vote at next week’s IPBT meeting deciding whether to add these two positions to the 27 on the hiring list, prioritize these two positions off the top, or omit these positions from consideration at this time.
