Meet Roary the Mountain Lion!
De Anza’s mascot – Roary the Mountain Lion – represents the college at student events, athletic contests and other occasions.
Roary's costume and uniform were developed by the Office of Communications in consultation with the De Anza Student Government (DASG), the Office of College Life, the Athletics program and student athletes. The college chose the mountain lion as its new mascot in 2019, after extensive input from students, student-athletes, alumni and employees.
Roary's name and costume were selected after additional campuswide input, including a survey that drew more than 1,500 responses.
Roary's public appearances are now overseen by the Office of College Life, which has issued Roary their own student ID card.

- Use of the college logo is only allowed with permission from the Office of Communications or a designated representative. Any use must also adhere to the guidelines listed on the logo webpage.
Request Roary for Your Event
If you would like to request Roary the Mountain Lion to make an appearance at your next event, please fill out the form below.
Roary and their handler can take photos or meet with attendees for up to one hour. Please make sure that there will be an onsite contact at the event.
If you need to cancel, please let the Office of College Life know at least one business day in advance. Cancellations made less than one business day in advance may incur a $25 fee.
