2023-2024 | Fall | Hybrid (so | Other | During Fall semester 2023, the method of assessment I used consisted of weekly reflection papers, presentations, weekly discussions, film reviews, and exams. | 10 | 6 | 3 | 23 | This semester was a bit of a challenge in terms of engagement. A lot of students relied on Ai generative essays. There were also students who simply did not participate. | There are a few actions I would like to employ in terms of
improvement: ***I would like to send multiple reminders regarding upcoming drop days so that students are aware. ***I would like to introduce live virtual community forums that occur monthly so that students can engage and continual dialogue around the topics and concepts discussed. ***I would also like to include 1-2 opportunities for students to present via zoom. |

Intercultural/International Studies | Fren | FREN D001 Elem French (1st Qtr) 01Z | 27605 | • Student Learning Outcome: Compose comprehensible, simple phrases or sentences about familiar topics to reflect a working command of core vocabulary and language structures. | 2023-2024 | Fall | Online wit | Exit Interview | The students had an oral exam at the end of the quarter : they
were to answer questions on a one on one basis. The purpose was to assess how
well they understood me, and to see if they could reasonably communicate
their ideas. A list of questions was provided ahead of time in order to give
them an idea of the kinds of things they may be asked to talk about. In this oral exam, the aural comprehension is assessed as well as the ability to construct reasonable sentences and pronounce French reasonably well. |

I need to support better the students that are struggling: encouraging them to practice their language
skills, in students groups is a solution. If they join a study group at the
beginning of the quarter, it may help them overcome the anxiety affecting
their ability to perform. Encouraging them to attend the French Club at De Anza could also facilitate the connections with other students and improve their oral communication skills. |

less than 10% of students failed the oral exam, either by not
attending or by not doing well on the test. I need to concentrate my effort in encouraging those students to get help from a tutor, work in groups .
