Equity Plan Re-Imagined Inventory
Equity Plan Re-Imagined: Gather relevant documents that detail, describe or define equity at De Anza. Use the documents as foundational source material for defining what equity actually means and looks like. Establish a baseline racial equity definition at De Anza with foundational documents to create a common understanding of equity and racial equity.
Action Plan: Conduct an inventory of equity at De Anza. What is taking place and what still needs to be developed? Utilize the board of trustees’ equity updates to inform the inventory.
Lead: Michelle Hernandez

Winter 2024
July 1-Dec Accomplishments
Spring 2024
Lead by the Office of Equity, create a plan to develop an equity inventory, construct a team to lead the assessment, and run the inventory. Use the Equity Plan Re-imagined to determine what has been done already and what still needs implementation. Determine the best way to engage with other stakeholder teams such as the Office of Equity, EAC and the Strategic Planning teams in how to bring people in to the equity action plans.
Jan-June Accomplishments
Women's Advisory Council to discuss the development of a Women's Center (Met with Senior staff to discuss the future of a Women's Center at De Anza)
Fall 2024
Utilize information from the self-inventory to inform how to provide ongoing support (financial, evaluative, consultative, collaborative, etc.) to equity-imagined goals that are underway.
What we can do now:
- Review program review equity questions.
- Equity information has already been sent to the board.
- Create the inventory template, fill it out, and distribute it. Done: De_Anza_College_Equity_Plan_Progress_Tracker_Updated.xlsx
- Distribute in Winter
- The Strategic Initiative Team meets regularly (every other week)
- Michelle is filling out and bringing it to the Strategic Initiative Team and EAC as we go.
- Have EAC complete.
- Prepare bullet points with Equity Plan- reimagined as a framework, pre-fill it out, and ask what else you are doing in these areas.
- Prepare to send out the form strategically.
- Compose a draft on a definition of Equity, do compare it with other Community Colleges:
- Conversations on: What keywords come up when talking about Equity? Formulate a definition of Equity with feedback from the campus. Do this quarterly?
- Per the reimagine, equity is defined in the "equity framework" visual on page 1 - De Anza’s vision is aligned with short-term and long-term outcomes • Key actions and accountability steps are necessary to achieve short-term outcomes.
Winter 2025
- Create a tool for adding to inventory (Microsoft) in addition to living documents.
- Solicit information from programs, Deans, etc.
- Begin to evaluate the data, progress, and outcomes.
- What do we still need to do? How will we move forward?
- Develop tools/processes that allow us to know what we’ve accomplished in Equity Plan Re-Imagined and what we still need to do and how we are going to move forward.
- Challenges/successes (Assessment) in implementation that we can learn about/from.
- Use the inventory to determine a common understanding of equity and racial equity.
