Transfer Day Is This Thursday, Oct. 16

College Fair and Workshops

This year's event will take place this Thursday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Main Quad. All students are invited! Please RSVP in advance.

Participating institutions include:

  • California State University campuses
  • University of California (UC) campuses
  • Private and independent California colleges and universities
  • Out-of-state colleges and universities

Students can also attend special workshops at Transfer Day:

  • UC admissions panel discussion – in Hinson Campus Center Conference Room A, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Register via this site. Select the 60-minute workshop at 1:30 p.m. and choose counselor option "University of California."
  • University of Southern California admissions workshop – on Zoom, from 3-4 p.m. Register via this site.

Undocumented Student Action Week

Events Happening Oct. 13-17

undocusolidarity logoThis week, Oct. 13-17, is ninth annual California community colleges' Undocumented Student Action Week! De Anza is affirming its support of undocumented students, along with the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office, the Foundation for California Community Colleges, the Community College League of California and our statewide partners.

Higher Education for AB 540 Students (HEFAS), the Vasconcellos Institute for Democracy in Action (VIDA) and UndocuSTEM are hosting several events this week to support students, employees and everyone who advocates for undocumented students:

  • VIDA Programs Open House – this Monday, Oct. 13, from 12:30-2:30 p.m.
  • Beyond Survival - A Space for Healing and Thriving – this Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1-2:30 p.m.
  • Preparing to Transfer as an Undocumented Student – this Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 2-3 p.m.
  • Undocu-Legal Toolkit – this Thursday, Oct. 16, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • UndocuCON – this Friday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., on Zoom.

Register to Vote By Monday, Oct. 20

Special Election on Nov. 4

de anza votesCalifornia will hold a statewide special election on Nov. 4, 2025, asking voters to approve or reject Proposition 50.

Every vote counts! It's important for college students to register and vote, so you can have your say on decisions affecting your community, state and nation. If you're 18 or older, and a U.S. citizen, you can register by Monday, Oct. 20, to vote this year. More information can be found at registertovote.ca.gov.

Latinx Heritage Month

The Office of Equity and partners are hosting a series of events this week to commemorate Latinx Heritage Month.

This week:

  • Latine/x Student Bienvenida – tomorrow, Oct. 14:
    • La Lucha Sigue speaker panel – 11:30 a.m. in Conference Rooms A&B in the Campus Center
    • Resource Fair and food truck – 1 p.m. in the Main Quad
    • Mental Health Workshop – 2:30 p.m. in ECOT 1
  • Breaking Barriers: A First-Generation Engineer's Journey from Oaxaca to Innovation – this Thursday, Oct. 16, 6-7 p.m., on Zoom. RSVP to receive the link.

October is Filipinx American History Month

October is Filipinx American History Month! You can watch videos from the CAN/DID Inclusion Series that focus on the Filipinx experience. The videos feature Erick Aragon, a counselor for the Office of Outreach and Men of Color Community.

"From Quotas to Community: Filipino American Migration and Movement"

You can celebrate Filipinx American History Month by attending different events:

VIDAThe Vasconcellos Institute for Democracy in Action is hosting a "Know Your Ballot" event tomorrow Oct. 14, from 10:30-11:20 a.m., in Forum 3. Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Women's Volleyball Team Raising Funds

The Women's Volleyball team is running a Dig Pink campaign this month to support The Side-Out Foundation, a nonprofit that raises awareness and funds for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer. While it is the most advanced form of the disease, it receives the least amount of funding. You can donate online to help the team reach their goal of raising $2,500.

The team will also be holding a Dig Pink match next Friday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. They will be playing against Gavilan College in the Main Gym. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. A $5 donation is recommended.

De Anza Tops Rankings in Student Success

Campaign for College Opportunity Recognition

The Campaign for College Opportunity has designated De Anza as a Pathway Champion for 2025, recognizing its leadership in advancing equitable student success in transfer-level coursework and strengthening California's transfer pathway.

The statewide research and advocacy group awarded De Anza top rankings among California community colleges for student success in completing transfer-level math and English in academic year 2023-24.

  • Second in the state for Black students completing transfer-level English within one year of enrolling in their courses (82.6%), indicating the campus is closing equity gaps for Black students.
  • Third in the state for students completing transfer-level math (78.8%) within one year.

Fall Parking Permits Now Being Distributed

For Fall Quarter (September–December)

Parking for students and employees will remain free for the 2025-26 academic year. However, the Foothill-De Anza district police will begin enforcing a permit system in part to address complaints that visitors or students have been parking in spaces reserved for staff.

Employees

  • Parking is free.
  • Temporary hanger-style paper permits are being distributed for fall quarter only.
  • Pick up your free permit (one per employee, bring staff ID) at the De Anza Police Substation on the lower level of the Campus Center.
  • Display the permit on your rearview mirror or dashboard so it is clearly visible while parked on campus.
  • Make sure to check your employee ID before going to the police substation. If your ID is expired, you will need to renew it with the Office of College Life on the lower level of the Campus Center before you can get a permit.
  • Enforcement for staff-designated parking spaces will begin Nov. 1: Warnings will be issued for the first two weeks, then citations for vehicles parked in staff spaces without a permit showing.

Students and Visitors

  • Parking is free.
  • Permits are not required for fall.
  • Do not park in staff-designated spaces.

Starting with the winter 2026 quarter, a new online system will be in place for students and employees to obtain free parking permits. Watch for more information on this new system, later in the fall quarter.

Foothill College Veterans Resource Center 5k

Foothill College logo with acornFoothill College is hosting a 5k run, walk or roll to support its Veterans Resource Center on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 8 a.m., at the Foothill campus. Proceeds help strengthen programs, services, scholarships and community connections. Please register online. The entry fee is $25 for military members and veterans and $45 for the general public.

Canned Food and Clothing Drive Now Through Nov. 24

Drop Off Canned Food at Auto Tech Building

The Auto Tech Club and The Hub are holding a canned food and clothing drive now through Nov. 24. You can drop off canned foods at Building E1, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
