Issue 3, January 2026. Math and physics tutoring, Veterans Resource Center (VRC) student engagement events and more are planned for the new year!

VRC announcements

Winter quarter starts Monday, Jan. 5

  • Be sure to note the location of your class: online, hybrid or classroom number
  • Mark important deadlines in your calendar now, such as drop deadlines and finals
  • If you need to make a change to your educational plan, register first, and then make an appointment to see the VRC counselor. Classes fill up quickly.
  • Are you on a waitlist? Learn how waitlists and add codes work
  • Remember: deviating from your educational plan could affect your Veterans Affairs (VA) educational benefits. Always update your counselor and certifying official if you want to make changes.
  • Email veteransda@deanza.edu if you need help

VRC drop-in tutoring now includes PHYS 50, PHYS 4A and math

  • Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m. in the VRC Student Lounge

Additional tutoring (other subjects and hours) is offered through the Student Success Center (SSC), S34:

VRC counseling

  • Weeks 1 and 2: drop-in, in-person counseling Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Zoom and in-person counseling appointments are also available Monday through Friday

The VRC welcomes two part-time counselors to the team: Matt Floro and Marianna Troy.

VRC counseling services

Jan. 7

Quarterly pizza party sponsored by the American Legion

  • Wednesday, noon to 2 p.m. in the VRC Student Lounge
  • Come by for pizza and conversation with our American Legion, Cupertino Post
Jan. 8

Lunch and learn: applying and transferring to a private university

  • Thursday, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the VRC Student Lounge
  • Learn how to complete the Common App. Presented by VRC counselors and former De Anza students who have successfully transferred to private universities
  • If possible, bring your laptop. Lunch provided.
Jan. 12

Assistive technology (AT) workshop for VRC students

  • Monday, 1 to 2 p.m. at the Computer Accessibility Lab, AT-203, Advanced Technology Center (ATC) Building
  • Learn about the benefits of assistive technology with Computer Accessibility Lab instructor Sridevi Lakshmanan
  • The ATC Building is just across from the Registration and Student Services (RSS) Building and bookstore. See the campus map.
Jan. 13

De Anza Student Government (DASG) winter resource fair

  • Tuesday, noon to 3 p.m. on the Main Quad
  • Learn about the resources available to you. Food and swag, too!
Jan. 15

VA Palo Alto Women Veterans Program visit

  • Thursday, 1 p.m. at the VRC
  • Drop by to hear about the program
